MANUAL COUPLINGS

MANUAL COUPLINGS

Manual couplings are the simplest and most cost-effective solution for connecting a tractor to a trailer. The coupling pin is inserted or removed manually, and must be securely locked in place to prevent accidental disengagement during operation. This is typically achieved using safety clips attached with chains or ratchet mechanisms that lock the pin from above. The main drawback of this system is the need to manually align the trailer’s drawbar eye with the coupling forks and manually insert the pin through the eye.

Advantages of manual couplings:

  • Certified for public road use
  • Swivel mechanism – ensures tractor stability if the trailer overturns
  • Compatible with all types of trailers
  • Simple and reliable design with compact construction
  • Straightforward pin mechanism
  • Standard equipment in agricultural tractors
  • Fits both narrow and wide drawbar eye ends

Sapala manual couplings are available in 2 versions: as integrated units (ZMZ) or as a combination of a flanged coupling with an adapter plate. When combined with an adapter plate, we offer 5 locking system types tailored to the tractor model, desired hitching comfort, and purchase cost. Each plate variant meets all requirements for safe and secure connection to both the coupling and the hitch frame.
